G-MUYO

GMUYOLEVEL

G-MUYO is a Tile Matching PvP puzzle game with some fighting game elements in its aesthetics.  I served as senior programmer and build manager on a four person programming team within a forty person development team working on the project.  In addition to being responsible for coding the core architecture for the game and a variety of mechanics, I also designed and coded the AI for the game’s single player mode.  Coding the AI provided a new and interesting challenge as I had not previously worked on that type of AI before.  My successful creation and completion was very satisfying.

One of the things that sticks in my mind about G-MUYO is some of the interesting challenges in regards to camera positioning.  The foreground, where the characters and game play took place, was 2D and used pixel art while the backgrounds were modeled and 3D, meaning there was a constant push and pull between the two and the camera perspective to make sure everything blended and did not look out of place.
